Guys, thanks so much for being here to celebrate “Illuminate” together! How has your year been going so far?
Thank you for having us! It’s been an incredible year so far. We’ve been working hard on “Illuminate” and we’re thrilled to finally share it with our fans. We’ve also had the opportunity to play some amazing shows and connect with many new people.
You’ve been in the music industry for a long time, but have not yet worked with Future House Music. What made the label the right home for “Illuminate” and how does it feel to debut on FHM?
Even before releasing a track, we had a great relationship with the FHM team. When we began working on “Illuminate,” we knew it was the perfect fit. After sending them a snippet, they loved it! After years of knowing each other, we finally accomplished our mission by making our debut on FHM.
Take us inside the production – what was the initial inspiration for “Illuminate” and how did you move from there to the final track we hear today?
While reviewing some of our older ideas, we stumbled upon the vocal that we had saved in our archives for years. We added a chord progression and began crafting a drop with a progressive track in mind.
What’s each of your favorite elements in the track and what makes it stand out?
We particularly like the part where the lead synth plays solo right before the second drop. We tried this trick with another record of ours and it has proven to be very effective at festivals!
How’d you approach your Spotlight Mix and creating a flow?
We approached it the same way we do when performing live. We enjoy creating a dynamic energy flow, switching between club vibes and melodic moments throughout the mix. Obviously, we also like to use a lot of our own music in our mixes.
Can you highlight three tracks or artists included and why they stand out to you?
Bingo Players & Oomloud – “Get Low” received many great reactions and support from some of the biggest DJ’s so that was a great start of 2023.
VINNIE & SMACK – “My Mind” is a great record that works well in the clubs.
Oomloud – “Illuminate” because it’s our debut record on FHM.
As you guys are experienced producers and music industry veterans, were curious your take on the current state of dance music? What trends do you see? Where do you hope things will go?
We believe that the music industry is currently thriving, with dance music remaining popular across the globe, and numerous subgenres showcasing the genre’s maturity. However, due to the rise of AI, we believe it’s essential to prioritize authentic sound. It’s crucial to think differently and create something unique that sets us apart from machines.
How do you guys view the current role of a label in the electronic music ecosystem? Where do you think things are headed with labels?
Labels are very important to us because they help us reach new audiences by finding effective ways to connect with people. Hopefully, record labels will strive to be unique in order to satisfy their fanbase.
Looking ahead, what’s keeping you excited, motivated, and creative on a daily basis?
When producing new music, we always consider the dancefloor unless we are aiming for a more radio/streaming-friendly track. In the end, we just want to see people dancing to our music. It’s definitely what keeps us excited!
Any other plans for the year or summer you’d like to share?
Going to a lot of parties and festivals, as well as spending quality time with our family and friends. And, of course, a well-deserved vacation.
